Top 10 dishes ordered for company events – and why you deserve nothing less

Getting good food for your company’s events should be easy, right? Well, it’s not always the case.

As a corporate caterer, we’ve got a list of customers who cater for anything from internal team lunches to large scale event launches. From the likes of Airbnb to Cisco to Banyan Tree, we’re here to save you with a list of their most favoured dishes.

So let’s unfurl the red carpet, and cue the stage lights. Here are the most popular buffet line dishes for company event catering, as voted by our corporate customers.

1. Satay

This local champ is a familiar sight on buffet lines at company events - and it’s not hard to see why. Presented beautifully under a heat lamp, with homemade peanut sauce and condiments on the side, this easy-to-eat delicacy from the Penang Culture Catering menu takes minds off work – and into grilled meat heaven.

2. Agedashi Tofu

We don’t blame diehard carnivores for having a soft spot for this almost-vegetarian dish. Crispy outside and silky smooth at the centre, the Maki-San Catering’s Agedashi Tofu is a tasty treat.

It’s also the best way to serve up soft tofu, with the thin layer of rice flour keeping every supple block intact. Our customers often ask for the bonito flakes to be served on the side so that both vegetarians and meatarians can have it their own way.

3. Beef Pho

Introducing every team bonding lunch’s best friend: gluten-free Beef Pho from the Wrap & Roll Catering menu. Big on taste but low on carbs, this hearty noodle soup dish will satiate your team, while keeping the Zzz Monster at bay.

Beef Pho is presented as a DIY station, so you can add your own condiments and soup. Imagine all that hands-on fun over bonding lunches!

4. Chili Crab Bao (bun)

Crabs have never been corporate-event-friendly – until now. The chefs at Red House Seafood restaurant have painstakingly de-shelled real crabs, stir-fried them in Chilli Crab sauce, and created a bite-sized treat that's perfect for both buffets and bentos.

With a black charcoal bun and molten orange filling, this unique take on our trademark dish promises to be a great talking point – especially if you have overseas visitors in the house.

5. Eggplant Parmigiana

We know, we know. Eggplant isn’t usually a hot favourite, but stay with us. This authentic creation from the Kucina Italian's Catering menu shakes things up a little.

Topped with copious amounts of cheese and baked to perfection, our gluten-free and vegetarian Eggplant Parmigiana has won over many guests. Our customers save this for when they want a healthy indulgence.

6. Bibimbap

The K-wave hasn’t just invaded our screens, it’s on our buffet tables as well. This colourful offering from the Seoul Yummy Catering menu is a huge hit with companies, because it’s healthy, and so easy to eat. Best part is, even though it’s layered with veggies, the Korean Kochujang sauce makes it really tasty.

7. XO Seafood Fried Rice

Expect big flavours from this gastronomic heavyweight; The XO fried rice is served with generous chunks of scallop, prawns and squid. Infused with the rich flavours of homemade XO sauce, the fried rice is packed in Four Seasons' Chinese Catering bento boxes, perfect for out of town guests, we hear.

Four Seasons' XO seafood fried rice is available in a convenient bento box for your lunch meeting.

8. Pineapple Fried Rice

Take a break from your typical fried rice, and relish the charming flavours of Pineapple Fried Rice. Whether you’re ordering from the Penang Culture Catering or Nara Thai Catering menu, this sweet and salty indulgence promises to delight. Both gluten-free and vegan (just request for the chicken floss to be put aside!), it’s a great choice for organisations with lots of dietary requirements to watch out for.

9. Tahu Telor

All hail this classic Indonesian delicacy, straight from the menu of Singapore’s oldest Indonesian restaurant: Tambuah Mas. It’s a cross between deep-fried tofu and fried egg, and will appeal to fans of both camps.

Perfectly paired and topped with shredded cucumber, Tahu Telor is great when you want to play it safe with Asian food, but still look like you’re catering something unique.

10. Chicken Rice

What’s a corporate lunch without Singapore’s national flavour? Organisations hosting overseas guests have recommended bento boxes from homegrown brand Loy Kee Chicken Rice Catering. To top it off, the treat comes with a tantalising array of side dishes, including char siew, crispy pork belly and Thai-style tofu with sweet chilli sauce. Yum!
